Recipe Share

I always love to get recipes from other people. It's fun to see what their favorites are, what their kids like to eat, what their favorite quick and easy meals are, etc. There tends to be a good amount of recipe sharing that goes on in Relief Society. So today, I am sharing a recipe that was shared at one of my Mom's Relief Society functions...that she then shared with me! That's a lot of sharing going on!

Oh, and I never have understood the mentality of not wanting to share a recipe because it is a secret family recipe, or something like that. Do you know what happens to secret family recipes? If they don't get shared, the recipe disappears when the recipe creator or makers pass on!

Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Chicken

Ingredients:

12 boneless, skinless chicken thighs, or 6 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup lemon-lime soda
2/3 cup white vinegar
3 cloves garlic, smashed and chopped
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp ground pepper

Directions:

Place the chicken in a 5-6 quart slow cooker. Top with brown sugar, pepper, chopped garlic, and soy sauce. Add the vinegar and pour in the soda. It will bubble.

Cover and cook on low for 6-9 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.

The chicken is done when it is can be easily shredded with a fork.

Serve over a bowl of white rice with a ladle full of broth.

Source: I don't know who, specifically, shared this recipe at that Relief Society activity.

Notes: I really liked this. It was very simple, and very tasty. Just basic, good food.

  1. I love sharing recipes. And how can you go wrong with brown sugar in anything?

Although there was a very funny episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" where Millie asked Laura for a recipe of Avocado Peanut Butter Dip (I think it was). Ha ha. I actually did a web search for it. Turns out it's totally made up.

However, Laurie forgets to leave out an ingredient and Rob and Laura overhear Jerry and Millie talking about it and wondering if Laura did it on purpose because she always wants hers to be the best, etc. Very funny episode! DVD was always so true to life.

However, I never leave ingredients out of any recipe. Share and share away, I alwasy say!
