Appetizers: Part 4, Sweets

You can't forget the sweet appetizers! You have to have some sweet finger foods to end the night!

Cannoli Dip

8 ounces cream cheese
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Notes: Holy cow, this was good stuff. You could even buy pre-made cannoli shells and stuff them with this mixture. I loved this.

Funfetti Cake Cheese Ball

Ingredients:

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups Funfetti cake mix, dry
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup rainbow jimmies (sprinkles)
Vanilla wafers, graham crackers, fruit, or other cookies for dipping

Directions:

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until combined. Then add in the Funfetti cake mix, sugar, and powdered sugar, and beat until combined.

Place the mixture on a large piece of plastic wrap. Bring up all the corners of the plastic wrap and wrap into a ball. Freeze the ball for about 1 1/2 hours, or until it is firm enough to keep its shape.

Place the rainbow jimmies on a flat plate and roll the unwrapped cheese ball in the jimmies. Make sure to press the jimmies into the cheese ball until it is fully covered.

Place the ball on a serving dish, cover with plastic wrap, and freeze the cheese ball for another 2 hours or overnight. If frozen overnight, thaw for 20-30 minutes before serving. Serve with vanilla wafers, graham crackers, fruit, or other cookies.

Notes: My only advice? Make sure you have more than enough sprinkles/jimmies to roll the cheese ball in! Ha ha! Our cheese ball had some bald spots, to be sure...but this was very tasty. Beware though, this is really rich! Be sure to check out the original source so you can see how cute this cheese ball is when it is fully covered with sprinkles.

  1. Hey~so you think our balding cheeseball isn't cute? Don't tell that to either of our husbands. :) Seriously, who runs out of sprinkles? Oh, yeah. Probably the grammy who gives them out to eat just for fun. Both of these were beyond good. The cannoli dip was incredibly easy and tasty. Sweet!
